Arch Manning Named MaxPreps National Player of the Year
The Texas commit and top-ranked recruit caps a record-setting prep career with the sport top individual honor.
Quarterback Arch Manning was named the MaxPreps National Player of the Year on Thursday, capping a record-setting high school career and a dominant senior season that has him squarely in the Heisman conversation as an early enrollee at Texas.
Manning threw for 2,995 yards and 22 touchdowns and added four rushing scores while leading his squad to a state semifinal. The honor is the latest for the nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning.
"It is a blessing," Manning said. "None of this happens without my teammates and coaches."
Manning is the highest-rated quarterback recruit since Trevor Lawrence and is expected to compete for the Longhorns starting job in spring practice.
